Who was the founder of Inayan Eskrima?
The founder of Inayan Eskrima was Mangisursuro Michael G. Inay.

Is Inayan System III a "stick art" only?
Inayan Eskrima has short and long-range weaponry as well as empty hand applications. Generally speaking, the students start training with weapons along with empty-hands from the beginning. The idea behind this philosophy allows for flexibly of application depending on the situation. In most cases the concepts one learns with weaponry can be translated into empty-hand techniques. Because of this interrelationship between weapons philosophy and empty-hand skills, Eskrima is widely recognized for its extreme practicality and effectiveness.


What is "Flow"?
To "Flow" is to transition smoothly between the different techniques and or principals without any disturbance in the transition. This requires skills in all of the ranges both with and without weapons. The ability to put technique and intention together continuously along with the sensitivity to fit your technique to your opponents' are key aspects of "Flow". To quote the founder of The Inayan System of Eskrima, Mangisursuro Mike Inay, on the subject; "Spontaneous adaptability is the key to survival".

Does Inayan System III practice full contact sparring?
In Inayan Eskrima, when we do full contact sparring we do so with minimal padding. However it should be noted that Mangisursuro Mike Inay felt that all practitioners should chose their armor to fit the fight. In that, warriors should protect themselves the best they can without impeding on their ability to fight. When it comes to training, different protection offers different lessons.

Is there a belt ranking system in Inayan System III ?
Some Instructors have included a sash ranking system. Within Inayan System III we differentiate the ranks of students and instructors by medallions and certificates.

What do the Inayan System III instructor titles mean?

Kadua Instructor - Associate Instructors
Basic, Intermediate, Advanced

Basic Instructors  - No traditional titles
Levels 1-4

Intermediate Instructors
Level 5 - Inayan Katalungan Guro - Assistant Teacher
Level 6 - Inayan Guro - Teacher
Level 7 - Inayan Lahong Guro - Seasoned Teacher
Level 8 - Inayan Masirib Guro - Savant Teacher

Advanced Instructors
Level 9 - Inayan Sursuro - Master
Level 10 - Inayan Lahong Sursuro - Seasoned Master
Level 11 - Inayan Masirib Sursuro - Savant Master
Level 12 - Inayan SudLud - (Honorary title only given after death)

Suro -Head of the system (Heir)

Mangisursuro - A verb from the Ilicano dialect that means "to teach". All the Advanced Instructor titles within IS3 are derived from this word (with the exception of the Sudlud title)
